“Earth on Empty” SUV Ticket

As gasoline prices fell in the 1990s and 2000s, American consumers demonstrated a renewed preference for large “gas guzzling” automobiles like SUVs. Many environmentalists, such as those in the informal “guerilla” activist community Earth on Empty, sought to highlight the massive energy requirements and subsequent environmental consequences of these vehicles. Earth on Empty printed these parody violation notices and placed them under the windshield wipers of parked SUVs.

How effective do you find this tactic? Do you think SUV owners were persuaded?
